Composite Abstract Lexical Structure in Interlanguage Production

Most previous studies of difficulties in learning a second/foreign language focused on sources learner errors caused by cross-linguistic differences various levels linguistic structure, but most such remain at rather superficial level description. This study explores an abstract studying the nature and activity bilingual mental lexicon during interlanguage production. The is defined as containing entries called “lemmas” underlying particular lexeme. claims that it language-specific lemma which drives production three lexical structure: lexical-conceptual predicate-argument morphological realization patterns. It further variations structure result not only inappropriate choices also target realization. Naturally occurring date for include several native pairs: Japanese-English, Chinese-English, English-Japanese.
